Fly fishing and photography are in Todd's blood and he combines his skills to create a personal feel and expertise.

Todd pursues fly fishing photography with the same passion and enthusiasm as he does teaching fly fishing. Much of his fly fishing photography is shot around the Sun Valley region. Sun Valley photography and fly fishing photography are two of Todd Kaplan's strengths as a professional photographer.

The Big Wood River runs through Todd's backyard in Sun Valley, through the towns of Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue. The classic freestone stream with its main source flowing from the Smoky, Boulder and Pioneer Mountains sets the perfect stage for quality fly fishing. Silver Creek is considered by many to be the premier Spring Creek in the United States and emerges from the ground near Picabo, Idaho, thirty miles south of Sun Valley. Silver Creek is legendary for prolific mayfly hatches of Blue Winged Olives and Tricos.

Located in the high mountains east of Sun Valley lies the Big Lost drainage, this picturesque river flows past the Lost River Range, the tallest mountains in state before sinking into the porous volcanic rock south of Arco. The South Fork of the Boise and the South Fork of the Snake River both run through beautiful canyons where excellent fishing and photography abound. You can often find Todd on one of these home waters where he does much of his landscape photography, scenic photography and where he guides fly fishing as well.
